How to Use the Opt-Out Feature of SMSBump?

Along with every marketing campaign, whether it is over email or SMS, you should give users an easy way to unsubscribe from your messages.

In this post, we will show you two ways to let your users unsubscribe from your SMS messages.

One way to do that is to send your users an unsubscribe link, and the other is have them send you a message that unsubscribes them from your campaign.

Important Note: The unsubscribe tag can be also triggered from the SMSBump Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce or OpenCart apps as well. All you need to do is follow the same steps below in the admin panel of SMSBump in your E-Commerce platform.

1. Unsubscribe Link

The opt-out feature can be used by sending your users a link where they can click to unsubscribe. This link is auto-generated in your message by adding to your messages {unsubscribe_link}. Let’s see an example:

The users will receive a message that looks like this:

When a user clicks on the link, this will take them to the SMSBump website where they can confirm that they want to unsubscribe, which will look like this:

Once the users click the confirmation button, this will lead them here:

When users take this action, you, as administrator, will be able to track the phone numbers that have unsubscribed from your messages in the SMSBump dashboard.

Go to your admin panel and click Lists:

Once you are here, you will notice the Unsubscribed button. Click it and you will see the results:

2. The STOP reply

This method is only available if you have purchased a dedicated number for SMSBump, since that is how users can reply to your SMS.

What needs to be done?

You can simply send a message to your users saying that they only need to reply with STOP to your message, which will automatically unsubscribe them from all your messages and campaigns.

You can see the unsubscribed users from the same place in the Lists in your SMSBump dashboard as we showed above.
